Morendo processes the audio of your apps locally, on your Mac. No audio ever leaves your machine. This page describes the few pieces of data that do travel, and why.

The app

Morendo asks for no account, no email address, no login. It embeds no usage analytics, no advertising tracker, no third-party SDK.

To work, it asks macOS for one permission: system audio recording. That is what lets it hear each application separately in order to set its level. Audio is processed in memory, in real time, and is neither recorded nor transmitted.

The license: what is sent, and when

Morendo verifies itself offline. Three situations contact our license server, hosted by Hostinger (European Union):

  • At first launch, to date the free trial.
  • When a key is activated, to bind the key to your Mac.
  • At most once a day, while the app is running and has network access, to renew the certificate in the background. Without network, nothing is sent and the app keeps working for up to 45 days.

The only data sent is a fingerprint of your Mac: a cryptographic digest (SHA-256) of the hardware identifier, which lets the server recognize the machine without knowing it. Neither your name, nor your email address, nor the list of your apps, nor any audio is transmitted. The server keeps this fingerprint, the date it was first seen and the app version, for as long as the license lasts.

Trial reminder, optional. If you enter an email address in the License window during the trial, it is sent to the license server along with the fingerprint and the app language, for one purpose only: writing to you twice, three days before the trial ends and the day after it ends. Each message contains a link to stop, and nothing is sent if a license has been activated in the meantime. The address is deleted at the latest 60 days after the end of the trial, or as soon as you ask.

Updates

At most once a day, while it is running and has network access, Morendo asks morendo.eyland.app for the list of available versions. This request carries only the name and version of the app: no fingerprint, no identifier, no profile of your Mac. A new version is offered to you, never installed without your consent. Automatic checking can be turned off in the app's menu.

The purchase

Payment is handled by Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe Ltd, Ireland), acting as the seller on behalf of the publisher. Stripe collects your email address and payment details under its own privacy policy. The publisher never sees your card number. Your email address is passed to us only to send you your license key, through Resend (Resend Inc., United States), and is kept for as long as the license is valid, for support and proof of purchase.

This website

This site uses cookie-free analytics with no personal data, self-hosted by the publisher (Umami). It counts page views and a few clicks, without identifying visitors. No banner is needed and no consent is asked, because nothing is stored on your device. Your language choice (FR or EN) is remembered in your browser's local storage, on your device only.

Your rights

You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and objection over the data concerning you, and you may lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority. To exercise these rights, or to have your Mac's fingerprint and your email address erased after a refund, write to contact@eyland.app.
