Morendo sorts your Mac's apps into named buses, Media, Chat, Game, and lets you set each bus once and for all: volume, equalizer, keyboard shortcut. From the menu bar, with no driver and no admin password.
14-day free trial, every feature, no card. Then 19 € once, for one Mac, no subscription. macOS 15 or later.
Morendo is a per-app volume mixer for Mac that lives in the menu bar. It sorts every app into a named bus (Media, Chat, Game), that keeps its volume, equalizer and keyboard shortcuts from one launch to the next, and routes sound to one or several outputs. It installs no driver and runs on macOS 15 and later. Lifetime license: 19 € for one Mac.
Windows has had one since Vista. On a Mac there is a single slider for everything: the game, the music, the friend shouting in Discord. So you leave the match to turn a window down, and turn it back up two minutes later.
Turning Discord down turns the game down. Turning the music up turns the notifications up. The Mac does not tell them apart.
Per-app mixers give every app a slider. You redo the setting for every new app and every update, and the shortcut targets whichever app is playing, not your chat.
The historical tools install an audio driver or a system extension, with your admin password. Streaming consoles want a window kept open and a share of your CPU.
You set a bus once, not every app at every launch. Discord updates, Chat stays at 60%.
Media, Chat, Game, Other. An app dragged into a bus stays there, launch after launch. Create your own, with their color.
Ten parametric bands, a curve you drag with the mouse, 21 presets written by use case: Deep Bass, Clear voice, Footsteps, Night.
The same bus in the headset and on the speakers, at different levels. The game in your ears, the music in the room.
Raise, lower or mute a bus from any app, without leaving the match. A small on-screen panel confirms the level.
A DMG, the app dragged to Applications. Nothing else to install, no restart.
macOS asks for a single permission: system audio recording. That's what lets Morendo hear each app separately.
Every app that plays shows up. Drop it in a bus, set the fader. It remembers.
Since macOS 14.4, Apple ships a public API, process taps, that intercepts an app's audio before it reaches the sound card. Morendo is built on it, and on nothing else.
Your key is emailed to the address you enter at checkout: double-check it before paying.
No card to try it: download Morendo, the trial starts by itself.
A volume mixer is a tool, not a service. You buy it, it works, you don't pay for it again every month. The features coming in version 2 will be a small paid upgrade, never rent.
Enough for the project to live and the updates to keep coming. Little enough that you don't have to think about it.
Each of these apps has its strengths, and FineTune is free. The full, honest table, with Submix, Wave Link, Background Music and eqMac, is on the comparison page.

Discord's own settings, a per-app mixer, or a shortcut mid-match.
The free one does almost everything. What it does not do, and when it is enough.
It does not exist. Here is the equivalent, bus by bus.
Yes. Morendo is built on macOS process taps, a public Apple API available since macOS 14.4. It installs no audio driver and no system extension, and never asks for an administrator password. It needs a single permission: system audio recording, which macOS asks for on first launch.
Morendo runs on macOS 15 Sequoia and later, on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
Only for the apps you actually adjust. An app left at 100% with no EQ goes through the normal macOS path with zero added delay. For the others, the delay is measured on your hardware and shown in the console, typically between 5 and 15 ms.
Yes, with any app that plays sound on the Mac: Discord, Spotify, Apple Music, Steam and games, Safari, Chrome, Zoom, VLC. Each app shows up as soon as it plays and lands in a bus.
No. Morendo costs 19 € once, for one Mac, with all version 1 updates included. The 14-day free trial unlocks every feature.
If per-app volume is all you need, FineTune is an excellent choice, and our comparison says so. Morendo adds what FineTune does not have: named buses that keep their setting from one launch to the next, an equalizer and a keyboard shortcut per bus rather than per app, latency measured and displayed, and a publisher who answers.
Morendo is distributed directly, signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple, like SoundSource or FineTune. That is what allows the 14-day trial without an account, immediate updates and a price without the store's commission. A Mac App Store version is not ruled out later.
